HISTORICAL EDITIONS OF REGISTERS
Previous copies of the register are now available as of right as long as the edition required is held by the
registry in electronic form. Whilst most registers were computerised in or after 1993 this does not
necessarily preclude much older registers from being made available.
This is obviously valuable information and, in the main, is useful if our clients need to ascertain the
‘previous’ proprietor or to check if a current loan replaced an earlier mortgage.
Please note that we have to provide an ‘edition’ date on the form. Each time a register changes (be it a
substantial change, correcting a minor error or anything in between) it acquires a new edition date. It is therefore essential that clients provide us with clear instructions as to the information they are trying to
obtain. It may be as well to telephone to discuss requirements before ordering.
Our fee includes an official copy (OC) of the most recent edition of the register and there will be a charge for the OC if for any reason the historical copy is not available. Obviously, if we have recently sent a current OC there is no need to pay for another. (In cases where clients are only interested in the former proprietor we may be able to apply for an alternative document that will show this information).
This is a postal service only. At present the LR will only accept postal applications and the reply will be in the form of an official copy by post. In view of this, please allow at least 5 working days.
